Of interest:
-Was determined to return to his first love, painting and sculpting, after Jurassic Park (1993). Steven Spielberg wanted Randal for Jurassic Park: The Lost World (1997), but it took a few phone calls to convince Randal to again return to film. Randal was making adjustments to the animation of the Lost World until just two weeks before the film was released.
-Dutra had worked intimately with Tippett for 10 years before Jurassic Park (1993) presented itself ––– having a long history as a key sculptor, creature designer, puppet fabricator and lead animator for Tippett. Seven years before being Senior Animator on Jurassic Park, Dutra applied all of these disciplines to his work on the documentary Dinosaur! (1984)
-Dutra's first major cinematic sculpting assignment was Rancor Pit Monster in 1982: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.
