Rafael Daniel Zuban

Rafael is an accomplished managing director at Clear Angle Studios, overseeing Hungary operations, and the founder and CEO of RafilmVFX, a micro VFX/CGI company. Working as VP/ICVFX supervisor at Astra Virtual Studios Budapest. Teaching VFX at the Film University in Budapest. He is also currently serving as a mentor at VES.

With over 23 years of experience in the industry, He has worn many hats, including VFX and Virtual Production supervisor, 3D scan and R&D partner, 3D generalist, university teacher, and compositor on film and commercials. Today, he focuses on management, VFX/Virtual Productions supervising, and team leading for feature films and shorts in 3D, VFX, CGI, and 3D scanning areas. As a seasoned professional, He has developed expertise in pipeline consulting and development, with a strong emphasis on on-set and studio supervision, short film VFX/CGI, 3D scanning and R&D, rendering, compositing, and optical processing developments. In recent years, he's explored innovative methods like Generative AI for films, Gaussian Splatting, and similar technologies.

Throughout his career, He has worked on numerous high-profile projects with Clear Angle Studios and DIGIC, including AAA Films and full-CGI productions. He played a key role in planning, developing, and building DIGIC's 3D scanning rigs, pipeline, and department. He built and managed a team at Clear Angle Studios, fostering R&D growth across various areas.

Dune 2,  The Creator, Blade Runner 2049, Barbie, Star Wars - Andor, Alien - Romulus, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Stranger Things (and many others)

In addition to his work on feature films, He has contributed to numerous CGI intros for franchises like Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty and Love Death and Robots.

As a respected figure in Hungary's film industry, He has worked on several major award-winning films and hundreds of 3D animated commercials. He has supervised various Virtual Production projects, including Karate Combat productions and VP commercials.

His network includes top professionals and VFX companies, with whom he collaborates to produce materials for Hungary's biggest brands, agencies, and film studios. Notable clients include:

Audi, Coca-Cola, McDonald's, T-mobile, Vodafone, Mizo, Aldi, Old-Spice, IQOS, Milli (and many others)

Rafael has helped several companies improve their tools and processes throughout his career. He provided beta testing and feedback for Metashape Photoscan (Agisoft) and Capturing Reality when they introduced photogrammetry on humans/VFX.
