With over 17 years of hands-on experience in the visual effects industry, Pranil Mahajan is a dynamic and visionary VFX Supervisor who has led creative and technical teams across India’s top studios. Known for blending artistic vision with cutting-edge technology, Pranil has contributed to an array of high-profile films, series, and commercials for both domestic and international markets.
His expertise spans across software tools like Nuke, Houdini, Maya, and complex workflows involving digital compositing, realistic simulations, CG integration. As a mentor, leader, and problem-solver, he has guided multi-disciplinary teams under pressure, delivered high-caliber results, and nurtured a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Currently serving as CG Supervisor at Company 3 (Method), Pune, Pranil oversees CGI asset creation, interdepartmental coordination, and the final delivery of complex sequences, ensuring technical soundness and visual finesse. Prior to this, he was a Senior FX Artist and FX Lead, managing pipeline development, artist performance, and international team communication.
As a co-founder of two VFX studios, Pranil demonstrated his entrepreneurial skills by building teams from the ground up, delivering critically acclaimed projects like Kalira Atita (Oscar General Entry 2021), Sacred Games 2, Choked, and multiple award-nominated works. His creative leadership at Running Image Studios and Lawn Chair Studios enabled seamless project execution even under tight resources and timelines.
Pranil's on-set experience includes working with live-action integration, green screen supervision, HDRI capture, and real-time technical problem-solving for both feature films and commercials. He has worked on diverse projects like Bhavesh Joshi, 102 Not Out, Avrodh, The Verdict, and A.I.S.H.A, the latter of which was nominated at South Florida WebFest for Best VFX.
He was nominated for the 2023 Annie Awards for Best FX (TV/Media) for What If…? Season 2, cementing his position as a top-tier FX talent in the global arena. A multilingual communicator (Marathi, Hindi, English, Telugu). Pranil continues to inspire innovation while shaping the next generation of VFX artists.
