Johanna Manz

Johanna Manz is a Visual Effects Producer from Germany.

Her career in the film industry began at just 17, when she started a traineeship at ORF in Vienna. It was there that she fell in love with filmmaking. Eager to start working right away, she decided not to pursue university studies and instead joined Red Bull Media House after finishing school.

She later gained on-set experience as a Production Assistant on two film shoots in the Stuttgart region.

In 2013, Johanna entered the world of visual effects when she joined Scanline VFX in Munich as a Production Assistant. She quickly progressed to VFX Coordinator and later VFX Producer, contributing to a range of German and international projects.

In 2019, she transitioned to freelance producing and collaborated with studios such as Trixter, Cinesite, and Bighug FX.

Four years later, after moving to Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart, she founded her own boutique VFX studio with a team of four. During this time, the company delivered visual effects for three German feature films.

However, following the industry-wide impact of the writers’ strike, the studio closed after only 1.5 years. Johanna then joined RISE FX as Head of Studio Stuttgart, where she led the local team for a year before going on maternity leave with her second child.
