DESCRIPTION:“Genesis and Visual Effects” \nThis dinner and program demonstration of “Genesis\,” Panavision’s latest digital cinema camera system\, featured real-time digital green-screen compositing by Jonathan Erland of Composite Components\, and Paul Vlahos of Ultimatte Corp. The evening’s MC was John Galt\, Sr. VP\, Advanced Digital Imaging for Panavision\, and was coordinated by Suzanne Lezotte. \nAs part of the VES Education Committee’s Behind the Scenes: Problem-Solving in Visual Effects Series \nThis four-part series focused on the “problem-solving” skills employed by some of the top visual effects supervisors in their most recent projects. Real examples of production problems were cited and the audience was invited to develop their own solutions. Afterwards the experts presented and illustrated how the problem was actually solved. Presentations included Glenn Campbell\, VFX Supervisor\, Area 51;Rocco Gioffre\, Digital Matte Artist\, Svengali VFX;Jim Rygiel\, VFX Supervisor\, Lord of the Rings (Trilogy); and Michael Fink\, VFX Supervisor\, Constantine\, X-Men.
