SUMMARY:2000 VES General Members Meeting (Spring)
DESCRIPTION:An Introduction to the Digital Intermediate \nFilmmakers use all their senses and tools to manipulate reality into something beautiful on the screen. They add lights on the set\, color time at the lab\, and create incredible visual effects. Now Digital Mastering adds another bow to their quiver. The Phillips Spirit Datacine digitizes film\, creating a Digital Intermediate that allows cinematographers to change a sunny day to a raining night\, turn green grass to brown\, or change most of their color film to sepia. The possibilities are infinite. \nSarah Priestnall\, Director of Operations\, Digital Mastering Division\, Cinesite\, Inc. will introduce us to the features and processes of the Datacine\, showing some recently completed projects and answering questions about resolution\, color\, cost and the implications for the future as influenced by this process. \nDirector Mark Osborne will further elucidate the process by talking about using the Datacine for his film “Dropping Out.” \nWelcome and Comments: Jim Morris – Chair \nJim Morris Introduces Jill Smolin – Co-Chair\, Education \nJill Introduces Sarah Priestnall from Digital Mastering  \nDigital Intermediate Presentation \nTom Atkin-Executive Director \n\n\n Legal\, Financial and Accounting (Marty Shindler)\n\n Results of Board Election – see attached*\n\n Results of new officers’ election held on February – see attached*\n\n VES 2000 – general report and sponsors – see attached* \n\n ShowBiz Expo 2000 – general report\, schedule and sponsors – see attached*\n\n VES Upcoming events\n\nScreenings: \n\n\n Fantasia-  April  5\, 2000 LA Film School\n\n Disney’s Dinosaur – May 17\, 2000 LA Film School\n\n Gladiator – details to be determined\n\nCall for volunteers for the Above \nCommittee Reports: \n\n\n Standards and Practices – Major Discussion Topic\n\n Education\n\n Website – Gear\n\n Membership\n\n Technology\n\n Awards\n\n Benefits\n\n Member companies\n\nOld Business \nNew Business \nGeneral Discussion \nSpecial Guest Speaker: Lowell Bergman \nAdjournment
