SUMMARY:Screening - THE LITTLE PRINCE w/ Q&A (New York)
DESCRIPTION:New York VES Members and a Guest are Invited to a Screening of Netflix’s THE LITTLE PRINCE followed by a Q&A with Director Mark Osborne. \nClick here to RSVP\n	Tuesday\, August 30\, 2016 at 7:00PM\n	AMC Lincoln Square\n	1998 Broadway\, New York\, NY 10023\n	Click here for a map \nScreenings are overbooked to compensate for no-shows. Seating is limited and will be available on a first come\, first served basis. An RSVP does not guarantee seating. \n  \nStarring: Jeff Bridges\, Rachel McAdams\, James Franco\, Marion Cotillard\, Benicio Del Toro\, Ricky Gervais\, Paul Rudd\, Paul Giamatti\, Albert Brooks\, Mackenzie Foy and introducing Riley Osborne \nDirected by: Mark Osborne \n  \nFrom director Mark Osborne and Netflix\, “The Little Prince” is a feature length animated film inspired by the French novella Le Petit Prince\, first published in 1943 by poet\, author and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.    \n  \nOsborne’s film uses four types of animation: hand drawn 2D animation\, CG animation\, paper cutout animation and stop-motion animation to bring this fable of friendship\, love\, loss and loneliness to life.   \n  \nTHE LITTLE PRINCE focuses on a young girl we come to know as “The Little Girl\,” who is being prepared by her mother for the very grown-up world in which they live.  As The Little Girl adjusts to a new home\, school and surroundings\, her world is suddenly interrupted by an eccentric\, kind-hearted neighbor we come to know as “The Aviator.”  The Aviator introduces her to a new world where anything is possible\, a world that he himself was initiated into long ago by “The Little Prince.”  It’s there that The Little Girl embarks on a personal odyssey into the universe of The Little Prince\, a world where it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.   \n  \nTHE LITTLE PRINCE was produced by Aton Soumache\, Dimitri Rassam and Alexis Vonarb with Jinko Gotoh and Osborne serving as executive producers.  The international team of artists and actors working on the film includes Jeff Bridges (“The Aviator”)\, Rachel McAdams (“The Mother”)\, Mackenzie Foy (“The Little Girl”)\, Marion Cotillard (“The Rose”)\, James Franco (“The Fox”)\, Albert Brooks (“The Businessman”)\, Benicio Del Toro (“The Snake”)\, Ricky Gervais (“The Conceited Man”)\, Bud Cort (“The King”)\, and Riley Osborne (“The Little Prince”) with Paul Giamatti (“The Teacher”). THE LITTLE PRINCE includes an original score and songs by Hans Zimmer & Richard Harvey featuring Camille\, production design by Lou Romano\, Alexander Juhasz and Céline Desrumaux\, stop-motion creative director Jamie Caliri\, character design by Alexander Juhasz and Peter de Seve\, editing by Matt Landon and Carole Kravetz\, sound design by Tim Neilson\, and an adapted screenplay by Irena Brignull and Bob Persichetti\, based on a story conceived by Osborne.

SUMMARY:Coffee Talk @ EFILM - open to ALL Members!
DESCRIPTION:Where:  \nEFILM Hollywood \n1146 North Las Palmas Avenue \nHollywood\, California 90038 \nParking available in the EFILM lot (across the street from front door) and on the street. \n[map] \n  \nPlease come out to a special edition of Coffee Talk.  Coffee Talk is a monthly gathering for women in visual effects to build community through mutual sharing of information and ideas in a friendly welcoming environment.  Normally our meetings are held at local cafes or coffee shops\, but this month EFILM has graciously offered to sponsor the event\, and we are opening this special edition of Coffee Talk to ALL MEMBERS\, regardless of gender. \n  \nWe hope to have some small groups set up with pertinent topics but with a loose structure so as to allow everyone a comfortable platform to expand upon.  We will also have a small room with children’s programing playing so you can pick up your child and bring them with you (there will not be a babysitter\, but it gives a little help in bringing your child\, and you are welcome to bring infants with you if you feel they will not be too distracting for the group).  There will also be a coffee roaster who is one of creators of one of EFILM’s signature roasts\, and she will be sharing the joys and intricacies of her coffee business.  \n  \nPlease RSVP so we can get an accurate headcount.  Space is limited\, EFILM is providing a wonderful array of coffees\, teas\, and other beverages\, and Panera is donating some nibbles.  \n  \nAll VES members\, regardless of gender\, are welcome to attend\, and women in VFX and Animation who are not members yet but have attended previous Coffee Talk are encouraged to attend as well.  If you have any questions\, please feel free to send an email to WomenInVFX@veslosangeles.com \n  \nAbout EFILM \nClients have come to Deluxe’s EFILM for color grading and finishing for three decades. Recognized with an AMPAS Sci-Tech Award\, the company continues to break new ground in digital color and finishing for feature film\, television and trailers. EFILM’s roster of top colorists are available via real-time\, calibrated color grading sessions between EFILM and Deluxe locations anywhere in the world. EFILM provides location services\, EC3\, through custom configured hardware and software solutions\, and highly skilled field technicians. Through EFILM\, clients also have access to The Portal\, a unique technology-based service that automates the cumbersome process of pulling camera original material and distributing it to VFX companies; converting the process from days to hours. Part of the Deluxe Creative Artists Group of companies\, EFILM gives clients streamlined access to an unparalleled network of post-production services. Recent completed full features include Pete’s Dragon\, The Secret Life of Pets\, Deadpool\, and Star Trek Beyond. \n\n

SUMMARY:Cool Things @ Fonco Creative
DESCRIPTION:Where:  \nFonco Creative \n1310 N. San Fernando Rd. \nLos Angeles\, CA 9006 \n[map] \nhttps://www.foncocreative.net \n  \nRSVP and save Sept 16th for our wildly popular “Cool Things” Series.   \n  \n*UPDATE*  \nTHIS EVENT IS 21 AND OVER ONLY \n  \nBecause of the scope and variety of the activities the companies of Vanaheim Studios are providing for this event\, “Cool Things” @ Fonco has been extended to 10pm!  The activities will start to wrap up at 9pm\, but between the food\, drink and 16\,000 square feet of awesomeness\, we know you will want to have more time to continue to enjoy the event\, and mingle with your fellow professionals with some after-activity drinks. \n  \nWhat kinds of activities are we looking at? Try your hand at doing a miniature shoot; a sample set up with a couple cameras for you to see how different a simple set can become in camera\, and professionals on hand for you to ask questions  both for technique and for production considerations.  How about archery?  Yes\, that’s right\, you’ll have the opportunity to shoot arrows on one of the stages with a trained stunt professional giving you pointers or lessons.  Ever wonder how they shape foam core or make molds?  Want to play with facial motion capture? Let’s just say there are plenty of hands-on activities\, eye candy\, and information- And its not just about the practicals – its also about the integration with CG. \nFonco has procured additional parking with the church next door\, so there is plenty of parking.  The entrance to the lot is on Arvia St. immediately on the right hand side. \n  \nSung Sam Korean Catholic Mission \n1230 N San Fernando Rd. \nLos Angeles\, CA 90065 \n[map] \n  \nFonco plans to have Blue Moon on tap\, along with a mixologist to provide something beyond the wine and beer we normally have at “Cool Things”.  And of course there will be some nibbles.  Hey\, its Friday night\, and what a great way to wrap up the week! \n  \nThe one caveat?  WE NEED YOUR NAME ON THE LIST!  It is better to RSVP even if you are not sure if you are going to make it.  If your guest is coming separately\, you MUST provide their name.  You can switch out a guest’s name if they arrive with the VES Member\, but any non-member guest who arrives without a member CANNOT BE ADMITTED.  There will be security and enforcement to ensure this\, so please RSVP TODAY!  RSVPs will close Thursday night. And remember that guests must be 21 AND OVER.  \n  \nLooking forward to seeing you there! \n\n
