SUMMARY:Webinar - Introduction to VES On-Set VFX Data Collection and Usage Guide (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Join the VES Technology Committee for an Introduction to the VES On-Set VFX Data Collection and Usage Guide \nClick here to RSVP\nTuesday\, May 12\, 2026 at 11:00AM (PDT)\, 1:00PM (CDT)\, 2:00PM (EDT)\, 7:00PM (BST)\, 8:00PM (CEST)\, 11:30PM (IST) and Wednesday\, May 13 at 3:00AM (JST)\, 4:00AM (AEST)\, 6:00AM (NZST) \nThe VES Technology Committee released their comprehensive guide for On-Set VFX Data\, detailing the data types and capture methods overseen by production-side VFX teams and how they can best be used across a project. Designed to establish a common language between on‑set VFX\, production\, VFX facilities\, and technology teams\, to enable clearer communication\, smoother handoffs\, and better-aligned expectations so that every participant understands what information exists and how it can support their work. \nIn addition to defining data sets\, the guide documents both current and emerging workflows\, and aims to inform stakeholders about potential data sources; highlighting how these choices impact production pipelines\, timelines\, and budgets\, while also laying the groundwork for future efforts. \nThe production-side VFX department is the primary custodian for the comprehensive management and tracking of on‑set data throughout a project’s lifecycle\, ensuring it remains accessible for present workflows and future reference. The guide encourages all teams to engage with and benefit from this shared knowledge\, strengthening collective outcomes and overall production efficiency. \nThe VES On-Set VFX Data Collection and Usage Guide was created for the VES Technology Committee by VES Award for Creative Excellence winning Visual Effects Supervisor Sheena Duggal\, with contributions from VES Technology Committee Co-Chair\, Open-Source Developer and former Disney Imagineer Sam Richards\, TV Academy Governor\, Virtual Production and Visual Effects Supervisor Jim Geduldick\, and Visual Effects Supervisor Jake Morrison with technical support from Academy Software Foundation Technology Advisory Council member Jean‑Francois Panisset.

SUMMARY:Building Production AI: Orchestration\, Pipelines\, and the Future of VFX with Foundry and Griptape
DESCRIPTION:Building Production AI: Orchestration\, Pipelines\, and the Future of VFX with Foundry and Griptape\nFoundry Zoom Panel & Presentation of Griptape for VFX Workflows\nClick HERE to register for the webinar\nAI tools are everywhere\, but how do they become part of an actual production pipeline? Join VES for a conversation with Griptape Creative Directors Jason Schleifer and Amaru Zeas\, moderated by Ben Lock of Moonvalley\, on how AI orchestration can power VFX pipelines. Griptape is designed to sit between models\, tools\, data\, and users\, helping teams build structured workflows that combine agents\, APIs\, automation\, and human decision-making inside real production environments. As Foundry brings Griptape into its ecosystem\, including Nuke integrations\, this discussion will explore what the technology actually does\, why Foundry acquired it\, and what that may signal for the next phase of AI in professional VFX and animation workflows. \nThis discussion will ask some direct questions. What does Griptape actually do at a technical level? Why is orchestration becoming such an important layer in AI systems? What does it take to make AI workflows secure\, repeatable\, and usable in production? How do artists\, TDs\, developers\, and production teams work together when AI becomes part of the pipeline rather than sitting outside it? And what might this acquisition signal about where AI-enabled VFX workflows are heading next? \n  \n\nJason Schleifer is a creative and technical leader with over 30 years in animation\, technology\, and storytelling. Currently Creative Director for Griptape at Foundry\, he focuses on Griptape Nodes: empowering creative professionals to harness AI in a predictable\, controllable way to create exceptional content. As co-founder of Nimble Collective (acquired by AWS)\, he helped develop cloud-based animation production workflows\, enabling studios to collaborate and produce from anywhere. His career includes senior creative roles at DreamWorks\, Wētā Digital\, and AWS\, blending artistry\, mentoring\, and strategic vision. Jason thrives on solving creative and technical challenges\, inspiring teams\, and helping artists bring ideas to life. \nAmaru Zeas-Sigüenza is a 6× award-winning filmmaker and creative technologist with over 18 years of experience across VFX\, animation\, games\, virtual production\, and real-time technologies. His work sits at the intersection of storytelling and artificial intelligence\, focusing on how emerging tools reshape filmmaking. His work has reached international audiences and earned recognition within communities connected to Cannes\, 3D Artist Magazine\, 3D World\, and beyond. He has also held creative roles at Microsoft and Amazon Web Services\, contributing to cloud-based media workflows and next-generation storytelling tools.Currently a Creative Director for Griptape at Foundry\, Amaru focuses on building cinematic AI workflows that combine traditional craft with generative techniques—pushing toward controlled\, repeatable\, and production-ready filmmaking. \nBen Lock is Director of Production Strategy at Moonvalley\, focused on integrating AI technologies into studio production workflows. A BAFTA-winning producer with broad experience across visual effects and animation\, he also serves as Chair of the VES Education & Outreach Committee and lead of the Conversations in Innovation series for the Producers Guild of America. \n\n\n\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Art of Simulation: Sims in Action - NEW DATE
DESCRIPTION:The complexity of modern day VFX relies on advanced procedural modelling\, animation\, effects – in fact the simulation of modern physics and optics. Whether its explosions and blazing fires\, smoke\, rain\, molten lava or vast tsunamis of water\, or giant shards of metal and concrete as whole cities get razed to the ground\, Filmmakers are demanding increasingly spectacular and convincing ways ensure the viewer maintains the suspension of disbelief.\nWe’ve gathered a panel of experts to tell us how such effects are designed and created\, and to explain fluid dynamics\, procedural workflows\, particle systems and how this area might be changing. \nJoin us !
