Please join long-time color professional Lynette Duensing and Sony Pictures Imageworks Imaging Supervisor Jeremy Selan for a talk moderated by VES Education Committee-member Laurie Kallsen-George. The evening will include a presentation of the legacy issues of color management in a VFX pipeline and the inception of ACES color. The Academy Color Encoding Specification adds a profile node to the output of most new cameras allowing profile matching for device dependent color. In the last three years the combination of new camera systems and traditional VFX pipelines have collided with the international collaboration in VFX to add a new dimension of complexity to the VFX process. This Education committee presentation is designed to address many of the new best practices for VFX Color grading and viewing in this environment. One of the recurring issues in VFX pipeline has been the matching of viewing systems and the matching of color space. This presentation will address real experiences in the international domain and theoretical best practices.
